Quote from Cofty:
Creationism isn't a 'theory' it's a myth.
Yes, the grass does look greener from your side of the fence. But, when Evolution is proven to be fantasy one day (as it surely shall) what will then be thine refrain?
so i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

all creationist arguments follow an identical pattern.. first a quick way to remember the format - 'complexity, complexity, complexity; therefore god'.. now a more detailed guide to formulating an argument.. identify some complex feature of the natural world.
a quick google search or nature documentary will quickly provide inspiration.
creationist websites have hundreds of them you can copy-paste without attribution.. do no research at all on what is currently known about the evolutionary history of this feature.

What a strange old sailor you are.
That seems to be a common trait amongst those of us who lack the Rh factor. But we bumble along anyway, eventually getting to where it was that we were headed.

Quote from James Mixon:
Evolution does not teach that humans descended from monkeys, it states that both have a common ancestor.
Interesting thought. Is this similar to the "chicken or the egg" enigma?
Quote from ScratchMe 1010:
10. making some kind of remark about something that will be happening "soon" where non-believers will be _______ (destroyed, proven wrong, disappointed, humiliated, gone to hell, whatever other nonsense), and they will be vindicated and rewarded for being right all along.
Hmmm. That definitely rings of WTBorg Cult Inc. indoctrination mind-dirtying. Being wrong about something isn't necessarily a bad thing; unless it stimulates bad behaviors. Being right about something isn't a big deal; certainly not worthy of any "reward" or elevated status. Judgment shouldn't play any part in the critical thinking process of evidence evaluation. But "man" does it anyway. Ego and all that. Which raises another question...

There really is no need to argue anything in defense of "Creationism"
As in Mathematics, where certain relationships and identities are "obvious," so is Creation to those who comprehend.
Is there any need to convince non-believers that they are "wrong" or "goofy" for believing as they do?
Not at all. Truth marches on. It just hasn't reached us yet in its fullness.
But, it is on its way...
(Some will be disappointed.)

Win the argument?
No need to devote any energy to such pursuit.
We are not yet in possession of all relevant "facts" to prove either "theory."
We are all free to believe as we desire.
In the meanwhile, until Truth is complete, study and cogitate while examining the tiniest "parts" of all life. Such activity is very, very good for the Mind of Man.

Quote from Cofty:
Biology is NOTHING like art or machinery.
When looked at from afar many will come to that conclusion.
However, when the tiniest of details are examined to evaluate how they masterfully join and interact to sustain the processes of life, another conclusion displaces the look from afar. Living organisms are most wonderful machines which possess incredible complexity. We have barely scratched the surface of the secrets of life study.
To those who are comfortable with the Evolution Doctrine that is your choice. For whatever reasons or fears. It is also your freedom.
We haven't yet reached the end of this chapter of the story. In due time more will be learned and all will know Truth. Our present beliefs do not impact that positive outcome in any way. We have been given the freedom to follow our hearts to whatever destination we choose.

Their = There (Senior Moment no doubt...)
Quote from Driveby:
Trying to reason that there must be a designer, maker or agent is just an effort to make some sense of it all, but there is no credible evidence to support such beliefs.
Many would reply that we're surrounded by Credible Evidence in virtually all directions, yet not all are able to see it. It may be that there is an intense underlying belief (or fear) which renders them unable to see.
When we admire an impressive work of art or impressive piece of machinery we readily conclude that it was well made by its creator.
Yet, when we look at life in all its incredible diverse glory we are encouraged to conclude that it all arose spontaneously because it was supposed to: no creator required.
Critical thinking or Cognitive Dissonance?
i was born january 15, 1947in mt.
carmel hospital, detroit, michigan.. within six months of my birth, my mother would bundle her baby boy into a blanket and board an american airlines propeller-driven plane--in effect, leaving my father behind--to return to her hometown, ft. worth, texas.. my dad had an excellent job working for cadillac as an inspector.
it was a union job.
Yep, the College of Hard Knocks is a b!tch. It toughens us in certain ways and brings out talents we didn't know we had. I'd say you've survived nicely while acquiring some rather amazing wisdom, insights and literary skills without loss of care and concern for the rest of us.
It is said that those who've suffered much will be rewarded much.

Quote from DubStepped:
Efforts by others to change minds are not futile if one is open minded and searching for truth and the other comes with factual evidence. I'm trying to be open minded here and to understand evolution. Many here have brought evidence for me to look at and to think about. The reason I'm asking questions in the first place is because efforts by others to change minds has finally got through to me.
I agree with your point about "evidence." What I meant about "efforts to change minds" is that if changing someone's mind is the goal of the effort, then the effort will be biased towards that end. A bias that may backfire since most people feel pressured when others insist they "change their minds" and tend to retreat into their beliefs of comfort with reinforcement. Effectively shutting down any ability to candidly evaluate evidence.
Mind Changers often become too pushy and too insistent. Fighters rather than advocates of honest effort to evaluate evidence. Unable to evaluate evidence with a fresh look. Stuck in their own sense of being right.
Their are nearly insurmountable "problems" with the evolution doctrine. Such as:
a. Who wrote the codes for DNA?
b. When did humans become sentient?
c. Why do we desire to create and repair and emotionally "connect?"
and literally thousands of other questions regarding life and all of its incredible diversity.
To my way of thinking, after evaluating the tiniest of details, there is only one answer.
Our life is really about learning and experiencing. That is what we do.
so i shared a facebook video from newsbroke with my wife.
you many agree or disagree with the points made in the video.
please, don't make this about that.
The WTBorg Cult Inc. understand very well how important it is to portray themselves as sheep in sheep's clothing; it is a huge part of their program to appear clean-cut, respectable, well-mannered and suitably clothed for "worship" always with Bible and Literature Bag when in public view. For many who are snared by The Cult, that seems to be proof enough that the org is what it claims it is. The Cult is well aware of all of the "triggers" which shape impressions, opinions and beliefs. They exploit them unrelentingly and effectively to create their following of obedient slaves. Then the Fear Factor cements the deal.
Very, very difficult to unravel.
